Product overview

Detax addition rapid is a general-purpose, addition-curing ear impression silicone with a built-in colour-change indicator. The material changes from blue to white when setting is complete, giving a clear visual signal that the impression can be removed. With an ear-residence time of only about 90 seconds, addition rapid shortens the impression appointment and improves patient comfort while capturing fine anatomical detail for accurate earmolds and custom hearing aid shells. This cartridge pack for the Automix2 system contains 8 x 50 ml cartridges (base + catalyst).

Technical notes

  • Colour-change indicator: The shift from blue to white shows that curing is complete, removing guesswork about removal time
  • Preparation: Examine the ear canal and eardrum, clean the canal and always protect the eardrum with an impression pad (otoblock) before applying the silicone
  • Mixing: Insert the cartridge into the injection gun, remove the cap, bleed a small amount until both components flow evenly, attach the mixing tube and check visually that base and catalyst are homogeneously mixed before use
  • Application: Inject slowly into the ear canal and concha, keeping the tube tip within the material to avoid air inclusions
  • Curing inhibitors: Latex gloves, latex-contaminated surfaces, cerumen, creams and some plastics can inhibit curing – nitrile or polyethylene gloves are recommended
  • After use: Leave the used mixing tube on the cartridge as a closure cap until the next application
  • Safety: For use by trained professionals only. After each impression, the ear canal must be checked. Refer to the instructions for use and the safety data sheet
